Botanical II inverse: Terra Verde Light
Botanical II inverse: Terra Verde Light
Around 5,000 years ago an artist carved a flower onto the surface of an ostrich egg destined to become a luxury object and traded around the Mediterranean. This carving was partially eroded and its full design lost as the egg - now artefact - eventually ended up buried and the millennia passed by.
My Botanicals series were inspired by what remains of this unknown artist’s lost work. I find it so incredible to think that they could never have imagined that parts of their work would survive for so long and inspire others, archaeologists, scientists, and artists, so much.
Life is both wonderful and strange, don’t you think?
