Sheltered - Linoprint
Sheltered - Linoprint
This print is inspired by a midsummer landscape in Monmouthshire, Wales. The title, Sheltered, is derived from a line in the wonderful book, ‘White Lanes of Summer: A Memoir’ by Tom MacDonald - about a childhood in rural Wales in the early part of the 20th century.
“He went to his grave sheltered by the peace of the ancient trees and walked back into the empty world, time of the twilight when over the hills the great sobbing of the sea filled the valley.” Tom MacDonald (White Lanes of Summer: A Memoir).
It’s such a poetical piece of writing, and I wanted to create a print with a dream-like, timeless quality that captures the feeling of ancient, majestic trees, standing like monuments in the landscape.
